Life seems to go on without effort when I am filled with music.”
― George Eliot, The Mill on the Floss
It was just a regular morning where I would wake up and go about my routine when suddenly the entire left part of my body felt weak and a pillow suddenly slipped out of my grasp, and I could feel my lip deviated. I was rushed to the ER and it was confirmed that I had suffered a stroke. This was December 2010. My impairments at the time weren’t majorly debilitating and didn’t have a profound effect on my job and I kept working as usual while also rehabilitating. All was well till destiny took its turn and I endured a second major stroke in May 2011, after which I lost complete control of my left hand. Still, the eagerness to get back to my job and continual inspiration from music prevented my life from coming to a standstill. For me, music has been a key motivator of my rehabilitation process. It inspires me and distracts me from peeking into the deep abyss of despair and keeps me going.
